Well hello there!
As I sit here writing this newsletter it’s my Friday afternoon again and I’d like to get up and take photos of some new plants for you, but my cat is sitting on my lap and doesn’t seem as interested in learning about my new plants as you do. Don’t worry. I’ll get to it eventually. This week was mostly plant research as I continue not to kill my plants.
What even is this?
It’s a newsletter that’s mostly about plants and plants stuff but through the lens that is Cami… so… I still don’t know. It’s a choose my own adventure style look at plants and the plant world. Is there something you’d like to see here? Let me know!
New plants this week…
So… I… I feel like this is a dear diary moment. Or perhaps confession? There are new plants this week. More than I would care to discuss really. You see, a shipment of succulents I ordered forever ago and kind of forgot about seem to have been delivered this morning. And then there was the plant on one of my local shop’s site that I immediately fell in love with while browsing. And then there were the two other plants I ordered because you can’t get one little plant delivered. And then there was the plant that I threw into my grocery order last weekend. And also… I had to order some beer for Super Bowl Sunday and wound up trying to balance that out by ordering another orchid. So. A lot to share here: Let’s dive in.
That’s 12 new succulents. 6 kinds. 2 of each. I stopped writing this newsletter to unpack them. I’ll be working on identifying them all in the coming week.
Also fresh in the Kaos plant domicile is kind a sneak peek at content on the blog next week with the following plants having just arrived:
Devil’s Backbone (squeee best name ever)
Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma (this was one of my wishlist plants)
Varigated Euphorbia mammilar (it’s a cactus)
An as yet unidentified tropical plant with velvety leaves from the grocery store
An orchid that isn’t even going to arrive until tomorrow so it doesn’t count?
In case you’re reading this and thinking that I really went overboard this week. Yes. I did. You are right. I may have been doing some retail therapy with plants this week because stress is real. But also I had no idea when those succulents would arrive. But yeah.. I overdid it. So… I’m saying that I’m not buying any new plants next week.
Links link links links links everybody!
I was full of information this week. I wrote two posts that I want to share with you. They were very very long but full of great tips. The last link is a beautiful place that I would very much like, one day, to visit. Or move into.
Won’t somebody please think of the tables?
A rambling look at things to put under and around your plants and pots to protect your surfaces.
Orchids are my add-on plants.
True to what I said in the listing of new plants, I tend to tack orchids onto my grocery order like people grab a candy bar in the checkout line. But I’ve learned a lot about them over the years and I share my methods.
Eden Project - Rainforest Dome
This is like plant lover Disneyland! Shout out to my friend Tammie who I’ll someday visit this amazing wonderland with when the world is a little bit safer for us to move about in.
And the featured Instagram account of the week is….
@hiltoncarter
Hilton’s is one of the first plant accounts I followed. He’s a “plant and interior stylist” and honestly I wish I’d known when I was young that I could grow up to be that. He’s also an author. Follow along on his Instagram feed as he shares plants, his books, and the in-process remodel of his family home.
Did I get a Fiddle Leaf Fig from Costco?
Sigh. No friends. No mythic $15 Fiddle Leaf Fig from Costco this week either. But to be fair I also didn’t have a Costco delivery this week. I’ll try again.
The end.
That’s it. that’s all I’ve got this week. But if you loved this pass it along to someone else. If you hated it you should let me know. Or just unsubscribe. That’s a viable option too <3
