Well hello there!
You might remember last week when I said it was awful outside and the plants were freezing but my inside plants were happy and healthy and warm. That was… unkind and unwise of me and as it turned out the indoor plants suffered from the extreme cold as well. We lost power on Sunday and the plants, my partner, my kid, my cat and me spent three days being very cold. I think there was only one plant casualty but I will have to wait and see.
What even is this?
It’s a newsletter that’s mostly about plants and plants stuff but through the lens that is Cami… so… I still don’t know. It’s a choose my own adventure style look at plants and the plant world. What will I think of next? No idea. Is there something you’d like to see here? Let me know!
New plants this week…
The grocery order never came last week and so I was able to stay true to my word and not get any new plants at all. This week however was another story. After three days without power and an extended period of time without grocery delivery we needed a grocery stock-up once the power was back on. And so I rewarded my hard work getting things back in order by adding a couple of plants to my order. A new orchid of course and also what I call a grab bag plant. They have an “assorted foliage 6 inch pot” item that is always something different. It’s like a blind pack for plant lovers that you can add to your grocery order. This time it was a nice fat Sansevieria Trifasciata… at least I think that’s what it is. The funny thing about plants that come from the grocery store is that they’re dreadfully nonspecific. It just says it’s a Sansevieria. Which is true.

Prompted by the new Sansevieria in my life I did a little Googling to find more information on different varieties of snake plants and this was a helpful read.
Spring Indoor Plant Care: 5 Steps To Happier Houseplants
With Spring just around the corner I’m starting to think about getting my plants ready for the change of season. Spring is usually a season of great growth. It’s also when it starts getting warm enough to think about repotting or potting up where needed, feeding them, cleaning them up, and some general plant maintenance. This article from a local Portland plant nursery is great.
These Are The Best Houseplants For Your Zodiac Sign
A second from Pistils this week… Plants for your Zodiac sign. I… don’t know why I didn’t know this was a thing. I guess I never thought about it. But as we head into Pisces season so my zodiac sign was on my mind so this caught my attention. Apparently the best plant for me is a Rabbit’s Foot Fern which is a plant I don’t have. Maybe I’ll have to fix that next month.
And the featured Instagram account of the week is….
@ecovibestyle
This is the insta account of a local shop that I love. Their stream is full of gorgeous plants that make me feel good just to look at. I follow instagram accounts for plant shops all over the world and this one in my own backyard is one of my favorites.
The end.
That’s it. that’s all I’ve got this week. But if you loved this pass it along to someone else. If you hated it you should let me know. Or just unsubscribe. That’s a viable option too <3
