Well hello there!
Today is the first day of the rest of my life. You can read this any day you want to (as long as I’m alive) and it will always be true. I strive for evergreen content here. But today is also the first day of my annual 2 week birthday vacation. No my birthday is not next week, it’s the week after. No I am not going anywhere, we’re still in a global pandemic. But that means more time to nurture my plants and write inane content to share with you. And the world if they care to read it.
What even is this?
Would you believe I still don’t quite know what this newsletter is all about. It’s an experiment. It’s play time for Cami and her plants and her love of exploring content creation platforms. It’s mostly plant related. And if you can think of something else that it should be, well I sure would appreciate it if you let me know.
New plants this week…
So… I added a random tropical foliage to my grocery order. It was delivered this morning and… and… and… it looks suspiciously like it’s the Birkin Philodendron I’ve been longing for! This lil guy has been on my wishlist for a while and I’ve just randomly lucked into a healthy little cutie of my very own. Fortuitous beginning to my birth season indeed.
And that’s probably it but I do have a shopper scanning the isles of Costco for that damn Fiddle Leaf Fig even as I type….
Dead Plant…
This sad new section brought to you by my dead baby spider plants…. The ones I recently potted from the mama plant that died back in December/January. They’re… no more. No I don’t know what happened? too much light? Not enough water? Spider natural loathing of me and they were too close to me all the time?
The other spider plant which sits much further away from me than that babies did is still going well though. Perhaps I just need to not get so close to them?
Links link links links links everybody!
While I’ve got Philodendrons on the mind…
Prompted by the new Birkin Philodendron in my life I did a little Googling to find more information on Philos, how to care for them, and some of their varieties. Good info, plus confirmation for me that yes MY NEW PLANT IS EXACTLY WHAT I THINK IT IS!
How to repot your houseplant
With spring almost upon us it’s almost time for a mass repotting/potting up of my houseplants. Maybe you’re looking to do the same. Here’s a post I found informative. It’s also got me ordering some fresh potting mix to give all my little plant friends a perk up.
How to divide your snake plant
After last week’s infusion of snake plant into my life and into my newsletter of course they’re still on my mind. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to separate your sansevieria and reduce the chance of killing them dead.
And the featured Instagram account of the week is….
@persistingroots
Shhhh. No one tell Persisting Roots I sent you. It’s a brand new account from one of my darling friends and you should all go follow along with her amazing adventure in growing plants in alternate mediums. I feel lots of hot root shots in my future.
PS: Love you bunches, Tammie
Did I get a Fiddle Leaf Fig from Costco?
Sigh. No. My shopper put forth a valiant effort but still no Fiddle Leaf Fig for me.
The end.
That’s it. that’s all I’ve got this week. But if you loved this pass it along to someone else. If you hated it you should let me know. Or just unsubscribe. That’s a viable option too <3
This is a Fiddle Leaf Fig… not mine but still it’s nice to look at.
