Well hello there!
I want to start this week’s missive by telling you two important things that I really think you should know
I really didn’t feel like writing a newsletter this week. But here I am anyway.
I can’t see my screen. Or my keyboard. There is a big black cat who has taken great offense to my decision to use the laptop. Sometimes I can tilt my head to peer around him and get a peek at the screen to check for typos. But he’s also laying across my arms so… this may be brief.
What even is this?
Would you believe I still don’t quite know what this newsletter is all about. It’s an experiment. It’s play time for Cami and her plants and her love of exploring content creation platforms. It’s mostly plant related. And if you can think of something else that it should be, well I sure would appreciate it if you let me know.
New plants this week…
I got NO new plants this week. Can you imagine the self control that took? None. Not one. But my birthday is on Monday so you never know what could happen. And if I don’t get any for my birthday you can bet your sweet bippy I’ll be getting some later next week.
I did receive a decorative terrarium planter that I’ve been coveting along with dirt, rocks, moss, and you know. Terrarium filling stuff. Tune in next week to see what I put together!!
Dead Plant…
I’m not going to lie. My String of Pearls is not looking good. It’s not dead dead but should probably go to hospital or something. And… my Alocasia Polly…. she’s a goner.
Links link links links links everybody!
What the hell is wrong with people?
I’ve mentioned my disdain for rare plant price gouging a time or two, so a plant loving friend sent this my way to share with all of you. It’s an auction site for rare plants and I am just AMAZED and more than a little horrified that people are willing to pay these prices.
Rainforest Concepts
As I prepare to build my first Terrarium I found my thoughts drifting to my friend Jeff G’s awesome site packed full of inspiration and information on more kinds of "…ariums” than I knew existed before I started chatting with him at a meetup some time ago. Check out his site and learn all about Terrariums, Aquariums, Paludariums, and Vivariums. And no I didn’t make any of those words up. Though it’s possible he did.
And the featured Instagram account of the week is….
@prettygreenterrariums
This week’s featured insta account is in keeping with what seems to have become a terrarium theme. It’s a Philly, PA based shop that my friends had damn well better take me to when I’m once again free to travel about the country.
Did I get a Fiddle Leaf Fig from Costco?
Sigh. No. And I’m almost ready to stop asking.
The end.
I literally have to stop now. You should see the death glare my cat is giving me as I type around him. Have a weekend of joy if you can. Wishing you happy healthy plants and hearts.
