Well hello there!
Happy Friday to you, plant lovers. Or happy whatever day you happen to read this. I’ve been on vacation for two weeks and I go back to work on Monday so I’m deep in relaxation and puttering mode. It is the best feeling I can imagine feeling so I’m hoping you all find a little bit of that in your life soon.
What even is this?
Would you believe I still don’t quite know what this newsletter is all about. It’s an experiment. It’s play time for Cami and her plants and her love of exploring content creation platforms. It’s mostly plant related. And if you can think of something else that it should be, well I sure would appreciate it if you let me know.
New plants this week…
Yep. New plants. It’s my birthday week after all. This week’s exciting new additions are
Cuban Oregano - I know I know.. you’re saying, “But Cami! That’s an herb.” How right you are gentle reader. It is. And a plant. And kind of a succulent with a tree trunk. And wow does it smell like heaven.
Crispy Wave Fern - Yeah, I know what you’re thinking here too. You’re thinking that I have a tendency to kill things like ferns. How right you are. But I think my corner for plants that crave humidity and indirect light is coming together really nicely. I think there’s hope. Also it was a gift from my partner and he NEVER buys me plants so I am ultra motivated to keep this sweet thing alive. Also because it’s just soooooo cute!
Dead Plant…
All but three tiny strands from my most recent string of pearls is dead. Dead dead deadski. Sad face. I moved those three tiny strands into the cute little birthday I put together on my birthday because they just look so charming in there and maybe it’s their last chance at life.
Also dead this week some other string of something succulent that came with all of my succulents in that giant batch a while back. Every other succulent in that package is alive and thriving but the strings of… I don’t know dolphins or something are both goners.
Links link links links links everybody!
Pet Friendly Houseplants
Some of you plant lovers may have pets. Or some of you pet lovers who happen to be reading this for some reason may want plants. It’s super common for folx to ask what kind of plant they should get for a certain room but people often forget to think about the little buddies we have scurrying around our homes. Plants can kill. So get the right ones!
10 Herbs You Can Grow Indoors Year Round!
My new Cuban Oregano has me longing for the days I had luscious herbs growing a plenty in my giant gourmet kitchen…
Okay I’ve never had a giant gourmet kitchen. My last two kitchens have actually both been tiny. And I’ve never really done the greatest job of keeping indoor herbs alive and well because they take up much needed space and tend to get little annoying flies. BUT with Spring in the air and fresh herbs on the mind I think it might be time to give a window herb garden a shot.
And the featured Instagram account of the week is….
@plantsinwonderland
I just followed this account today. Partly because of the name… combing my life of plants with my affection for Alice in Wonderland is a sure fire way to catch my attention. But mostly I followed because of the big bold leaf pics. Who doesn’t love a big leaf?
Did I get a Fiddle Leaf Fig from Costco?
NO. No okay. NO. THEY DO NOT EXIST AT THE COSTCO MY SHOPPER GOES TO. Does that mean I’m giving up. Sigh… I am too stubborn.
The end.
That’s it for the week. Thank you all for joining me on this little plant adventure. If you liked this feel free to share it with a friend and let me know how I can improve it. If you hate this please let me know how I can make it better but also probably unsubscribe because… yeah. I’m kind of annoying <3
